North Delhi Mayor Mr. Ravinder Gupta, East Delhi Mayor Mr. Harsh Malhotra and South Delhi Mayor Mr. Subhash Arya today met with the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Mr. Manish Sisodia and demanded a permanent solution to the financial crisis being faced by the Corporations.
Mayor of North Delhi Mr. Ravinder Gupta conveyed to the Deputy CM that the Corporation will accept Rs. 551 crore given by the Delhi Government as a grant instead of a loan. He also demanded from Mr. Manish Sisodia additional Rs. 360 crore as Deputy CM himself has acknowledged that
this amount is required to end the impasse immediately.
Mr. Gupta also said that conditional services to citizens are not acceptable. He said that imposing conditions such as demanding jurisdiction over DDA, municipal hospital, Delhi Police in lieu of extending services to citizens is irresponsible and baseless response to this urgent situation. The Mayor said that if Delhi Government is given to the municipal bodies, they can also run them in a far more efficient way.
The Mayor also demanded from the Deputy CM to provide all due funds as per the 3rd Delhi Finance Commission and implement the recommendations of 4th DFC as a permanent solution. He also demanded from the Delhi Government to immediately constitute 5th DFC. Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Manish Sisodia said that he would speak with the LG and the CM regarding various issues being raised by the Corporations including release of Rs. 360 crore to both the Corporations to solve the immediate problem. The Deputy CM asked the Mayor to persuade the employees to end the strike and resume duties.
