North DMC gears up for likely inspection of Prime Minister to monitor Swachh Bharat Mission progress
In view of likely inspection of Delhi by Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi to review work under Swachh Bharat Mission, North Delhi Mayor Mr. Ravinder Gupta today directed the senior officials of North Delhi Municipal Corporation to improve the sanitation and cleanliness in its jurisdiction.
He said that under Swachh Bharat Mission approximately 1 lakh dustbins would be placed in all of its six zones by the March, 2016. Mr. Gupta said that these dustbins would be provided with the help of RWAs, market associations and other organizations. These dustbins would be kept on every nook and corner of the North Delhi. Besides, dustbins would also be kept in more than 5400 parks of North Delhi.
The Mayor also informed that all street vendors / hawkers will have to mandatorily keep a Blue dustbin. He directed the officials to strictly implement this order else they would not be allowed to do vending.
Mr. Ravinder Gupta said that nearly 1800 well-maintained big parks are being identified where utility toilets would be developed under Swachh Bharat Mission.
The Mayor informed that there would zero tolerance against negligence in implementing these instructions. He said that he would monitor the state of affairs by inspecting the various wards in the coming March.
