Shri Ravinder Gupta was elected as Mayor of North Delhi on 28.4.2015. Sh.Gupta is a Councillor from Ward 91, Karol Bagh. He became a Councillor in 2012 and Chairman, Works Committee during 2012-14. In April, 2014 he was elected as Deputy Mayor.
Born on 19th February, 1971, he did his studies from Motilal Nehru College, Delhi University. Sh. Gupta was interested in politics since childhood and always wanted to enter active polics. With this ambition he began his political journey in 1988-89 when he became a member of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad in college. He contested the Delhi University Elections and became the Central Councillor. In his illustrious career spanning 25 years, Sh. Gupta held many positions. Later he joined BJP as a worker in 1990 and fulfilled many responsibilities of the party. He was appointed as Zonal-in-charge and later became District President. He was also the General Secretary of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM).
A dedicated member of the Corporation, Sh. Gupta is well-versed in the functioning of various departments, their rules and regulations and is always eager to make meaningful changes in the lives of the people of Delhi by providing better facilities. A down-to-earth person, Sh. Gupta is well aware of various problems faced by the citizens of the metropolis. He leaves no stone unturned to address issues related to cleanliness, waste disposal, sewerage, upkeep of roads etc. that come to his notice. He always fought against illegal sealing and demolition and raised many important issues related to public interest in front of the Corporation. Besides he has actively participated in various discussions on many occasions where issues related to the citizens of Delhi are being debated upon. And needless to say, on many occasions he has made many useful observations and suggestions. Sh. Gupta has full faith in the vision of the Corporation and the manner in which it functions to make Delhi a corruption-free, clean and beautiful city. Further, he is ever eager to improve the image of the Corporation in the eyes of the people of Delhi by providing every possible facility to them.
A religious man, Shri Gupta organizes many discourses in his ward and also supports wholeheartedly various religious and spiritual activities happening all over the city. A leader par excellence, Shri Gupta considers himself as a religious person first, then a social worker and finally a political entity. For this reason his name is counted among the popular leaders and social workers not only in his ward but also in the city as a whole.
