Met Arvind Kejriwal for Approx 80000 Pensioners Relief in North MCD


North Delhi Mayor Mr. Ravinder Gupta alongwith standing Committee Chairman of North Delhi Municipal Corporation Mr. Mohan Bhardwaj today met the Chief Minister of Delhi Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, seeking their due funds for running the Corporation in an effective and efficient way.
Mr. Gupta particularly sought financial help so that the Corporation can disburse pension, delay of which is affecting about 80,000 families. They informed the Chief Minister that the Corporation has not been able to pay old age pension for the last one year due to the ongoing financial crisis. He demanded that funds be released in the public interest even though the Chief Minister may take credit for the same.
He demanded due Municipal Reform Fund of approximately Rs. 500 crore from the Delhi Government. He apprised the CM that the pensioner visit the municipal offices or councilors every month in the hope of receiving pension but are compelled to go back empty-handed. They said that for a pension of Rs. 1000 per month, pensioners request their councillors many times who are hapless due to lack of funds.
Mr. Gupta and Mr. Bhardwaj also informed the CM that the civic body has made some policies but their results in monetary form might take some time materialize. However, with realization of income from some sources, the salaries of employees and sanitation workers has been paid.
The Mayor and the Standing Committee Chairman demanded from the Chief Minister that the due share of Municipal Reform Fund of the Corporation of about Rs. 500 crore be released at the earliest or some amount of loan be provided so that pensions can be disbursed without further delay.
Mr. Gupta and Mr. Bhardwaj said that the Chief Minister has assured them of all possible help after due consideration.
