FICCI Ladies Organization takes over North DMC’s Mahita Haat to give a new lease of life to the Haat

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Legislative Assembly Mr. Vijender Gupta launched a programme to revive the civic body’s Mahila Haat at Asaf Ali Road by FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO). Special guest at the event was North Delhi Mayor Mr. Ravinder Gupta, while councillor Ms. Shobha Vijender was special guest. Municipal Secretary of North DMC Ms. Sangeeta Bansal was also present at the event.
FLO has signed an MOU with North Delhi Municipal Corporation to revive the Mahila Haat with the objective of developing it as a marketplace for women artisans and entrepreneurs, thereby encouraging and promoting entrepreneurship and skill development at the grass root level among women, across all sectors. The Haat will also serve as a cultural centre for women-oriented performances.
Mr. Vijender Gupta said that the aim should be to develop this Mahila Haat as successful as other Haats of Delhi. He said that an example should be set up by promoting this Haat as harbinger of women empowerment.
Mr. Ravinder Gupta said that mere good infrastructure do not lead to success of any project. He said that efficient operation of any project decides its success of failure. He said that it is hoped that FLO would play a great role in making this mahila haat a win-win project for North DMC, FLO, women entrepreneurs, artisans as well as visitors.

FLO would promote the development of Mahila Haat, mobilize women artisans to exhibit and sell their products in the Haat and also bear the cost of running programmes at the Haat such as festival of states, cultural programmes etc. This agreement would help rejuvenate the Mahila Haat. It would also be responsible for licensing of stall and internal management of the Haat including sanitation, security, electricity and water consumption.
